There is generally no need to prepare your Vita product for seasonal weather, our kits are designed to be installed in areas with all four seasons! Occasionally rinsing the vinyl with a garden hose and/or outdoor cleaner is enough to keep your product looking fresh.
Pergolas:
If you live in an area with snow accumulation you can consider removing any canvas pergola accessories to clean and store for the winter to prevent mildew build up. Be sure to dry the canvas completely before folding and storing in a cool, dry location.
On Louvered Pergolas it's a good idea to prop open your louvres to allow snow accumulation to pass through to the ground to avoid additional weight on the pergola due to snowfall.
Composting Gardens, Planters and Raised Beds:
Composting gardens will benefit from being turned over in the spring to promote aeration and to distribute your compost throughout the garden. Simply fluff the soil with a shovel or rake to break up hard clumps and move your nutrients around.
There is no need to add a tarp or cover to your garden bed or planter over the winter, simply cut some or all of your plant foliage back in the fall and wait for the next growing season. Did you know that leaving some plant foliage over winter is great for promoting beneficial insects in your garden? Insects help create aeration and fertilizer for your plants and giving them a home is a great way to promote a healthy composting garden!
